Jet Eriksen or "Piplup Guy" (from their profile picture) is a YouTube commenter who counts the GBJs in each SimpleFlips video; this appears to be the source of his income. SimpleFlips has hearted and otherwise reacted to these comments repeatedly.

When SimpleFlips encounters or dodges an apparent GBJ on stream, he may refer to "Piplup Guy" in a tone that facetiously indicates bad blood between them; this is most likely because the lore inextricably ties Eriksen to GBJ, even implying that he has some form of control over the phenomenon.

Jet Eriksen continues to comment on SimpleFlips videos that contain no GBJs. In these cases, they instead increment the "dry streak": the number of consecutive videos with no GBJs featured. Dry streaks appear to cause Eriksen financial and emotional misfortune. Relevant comments often refer to the alcoholism Eriksen turns to when SimpleFlips deprives him of GBJs to count for extended periods of time.

The attention that "Piplup Guy" generates in SimpleFlips' comments sections has inspired others to count repetitive events in his videos.

As of 29 January 2019, the highest GBJ dry-streak was 52. It was supposed to be 53, until a GBJ was supposedly found after exhaustive analysis on the 2nd of February, 2019. However Dad, in a fit of pique, released an entire video dedicated to debunking the GBJ, thus continuing the dry-streak; this has invoked the wrath of the Piplup Guy, who has promised: "a war that is going to end [SimpleFlips]." On the 5th of February, 2019, Simp released a video deliberately containing two gay baby jails in order to mollify Piplup Guy, but this is not enough to assuage his rage. Piplup Guy has suffered, and suffering will be repaid.

The highest dry-streak so far is 57, beginning on the 6th of December, 2018, and ending on the 5th of February, 2019.

Personal life

Piplup Guy's real name is "Jonas Eriksen." No his real name is not jet, it shocked me at first too, but you learn to see that you will soon forget this fact, and be shocked by the name all over again. He is from Denmark and is 22 years of age. He spends most of his time at a job ignoring his discord server dedicated to his PMDVA project, is what I would usually say if he didn't use it's voice chats to play ff14 with one dude on there. He still is otherwise not too terribly active on his server, but it is impossible to say that he isn't because he is constantly in a VC with one dude. However, otherwise, he is still mostly inactive on his own discord server. Due to this, it is often joked about with his friends that he is incredibly inactive. Many in his own server even wish to overthrough him and call him a lousy leader. Those that do say that get sent to the gulag. Please free me jaet. He also loves the tooth & tale video game, and is self proclaimed very good at it. He is the only one of his siblings to not win a pokemon tcg world championship. To make things clear, this isn't because of any lack of attempt to do so, far from it infact, as he has gotten close, he just has never succeeded at it. As of late, he really hasn't been active in the simpleflips comment section. This is due to his absolutely massive addiction to final fantasy 14. He spends every waking moment playing it, and sometimes his unwaking moments. No matter any reports of his death you may hear, rest assured he only has a case of the severe MMO addiction, nothing life threatening, but a serious problem millions suffer every day.

Trivia
